Launching during a pandemic
This isn't my first product launch. I created a line of bath and body products in 2007 and a jewelry line in 2011.
As I was transitioning to my natural hair, I used my skills in formulating bath and body products to create formulas for my hair. After discovering what my REAL texture was, I fell in love with my curls.
At that point, it was important for me to be able to Have It All! - meaning, being able to go from curly to straight without jeopardizing my beautiful curls with heat damage. This process entailed clarifying, achieving a balance of strength and moisture, using non-drying styling products and protection.
Launching during a pandemic was divine order; it provided the time and focus that I needed. I had already completed formulas and artistic design. I consulted many that were transitioning and even those that wanted tips on how to achieve a fabulous wash and go. I also had plans for further product development. But I was busy! Busy with life, caring for our family, traveling, managing our other business interests, and enjoying our life! When everything shut down, the frolicking stopped, and I transferred that energy to my heart's joy, I Luv Curls®. I cut my hair and recommitted to my regimen. I hired consultants to help me execute my business plan. I made the commitment to move forward despite what was going on around me.
In the book of Romans 5: 3-5 in the Bible, the text assures us that we can have joy in the midst of sorrow, "we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us."
As heartbreaking and scary as the pandemic has been, it has also been a time of revival for me; as I worked in ministry and saw God's hand in transforming so many lives for the better in the middle of a pandemic, I knew that I was called to move forward with bringing I Luv Curls® to fruition. Enter in the "joy" part, I love telling people who they are, telling them that they are beautiful, talented, powerful, capable, worthy! My purpose was becoming clear. I know that there is more to be revealed about how I Luv Curls® will serve the masses as we work to uplift our communities in word and in truth around self-love, empowerment, education, etiquette, leadership, career development, spirituality, and The Word of God, one curl at a time.
